The China
The China
was built by Wessera W Power & Co. of Kingston Ontario. When built it was hailed as finest boats in the inland seas, the
China only plied the water ways for six months before burning 12 miles west of Kingston in October 1872, a $34,000 loss. The
fire aboard spread quickly, and by the time the steamer AMERICA arrived at the scene a short time later, all of the passengers
and crew were crowded at the bow. The wreck is located between 9-mile pt. and False Ducks. There is not much left
of the China except the prop and boiler.
